All children who were 2 or 3 years of age on the 31st August 2020 are eligible for a free flu vaccination, which is the best way to protect them against the influenza virus (flu).

The children’s flu vaccine is offered as a yearly nasal spray to young children to help protect them from flu.

Flu can be a very unpleasant illness for young children, with potentially serious complications. Vaccinating your child helps protect your child, family and friends by preventing the spread of flu.

Even if your child was vaccinated last year, it is important they are protected again this winter because the flu virus can vary every year.

The vaccination is free, safe and quick, and in most cases is given by a painless spray up the nose. If you have not arranged for your child to have their flu vaccination this winter don’t put it off.

If you have not already, please contact your GP practice today to make an appointment.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic GP practices have been ensuring that all national guidance is followed in order to reduce the spread of coronavirus and continue to deliver their services safely.
