NHS Bury appoints new Director of Finance

Stuart North has joined NHS Bury as Director of Finance.

Stuart took up the post full time with effect from 1 October 2010.

Stuart comes to NHS Bury from East Cheshire NHS Trust, where he held the post of Director of Finance since 2005. Stuart has been working across both Trusts in the run up to taking up the role at NHS Bury full time.

Committed to the NHS, Stuart has 28 years NHS service under his belt.  An Accountant by profession, he has considerable experience in NHS finance having previously been Associate Director of Finance at Central Manchester and Manchester Children’s Hospitals NHS Trust for six years, and prior to that Deputy Director of Finance at Tameside NHS Trust.

Stuart was instrumental in developing and implementing a financial strategy which enabled East Cheshire NHS Trust to turnaround its financial position and improve its use of resources rating from weak to good.

Speaking about his appointment Stuart said: “I am delighted to join NHS Bury as Director of Finance. NHS Bury is facing a significant financial challenge.  It’s my job to ensure that we can do more with the money we are allocated, whilst working with colleagues to drive up quality and improve services. I relish the challenges ahead and will put my experience to good use here at NHS Bury.”

John Boyington CBE, Chief Executive for NHS Bury added: “I am delighted to welcome Stuart to our team, bringing with him experience of financial transformation in the NHS. It’s a challenging time financially for NHS Bury, and having someone of Stuart’s calibre on board is a huge asset to health services in Bury.”
