New booklet to keep you fit and independent throughout the ageing process

Have you noticed it’s taking longer to get to the bus stop than it used to? Or that your weekly supermarket shop takes longer than before? If you’ve noticed you’re a little slower than you used to be, these could be signs that you’ve started slowing down.

The NHS has worked in conjunction with Age UK to produce a guide to healthy ageing. The advice in this booklet will help improve the health and general fitness of people of any age, but it is written to be particularly relevant for people who are about 70 years or older.

People of this age, and sometimes younger, begin a ‘slowing-down’ process related to the effects of ageing on their body.

We cannot stop the process of ageing, but the advice given in the guide will help to keep you fit and independent.
