Cllr. John Byrne - NHS Bury expresses condolences

Colleagues at NHS Bury are saddened to learn that Cllr. John Byrne, Non Executive Director on the NHS Bury Locality Board, passed away yesterday (28 December 2011) aged 73.
Paul Horrocks Locality Board Chairman for NHS Bury said: “John could truly be described as a man of the people. He cared deeply about Bury and was a great ambassador for the borough both as a politician and someone with a passion for the NHS who always wanted to see improvements in health.”
“He had a great ability to cut through bureaucracy and speak plainly and with common sense. He spent a huge amount of time on community activities and was a warm and generous person to be with. He will be greatly missed by all his family and he was devoted to his wife Brenda.”
